Once I was curious why I felt so convenient and friendly with this statue, I guessed maybe Mr. John Ma was the great teacher of THU, my experienced university. However, I still couldn't explain the speciall affection to the figure. Today, I finally know the reason when I am reading <thinking notes of Arthur Schopenhauers >. He wrote "it is ridiculous to set the statue on a stiff stage even 20 feet high, because people can't see the figure clearly since usually the statue is made of bronze and in a dark color. If people walk closer to the statue to make a clearer view then they will be dazzled by the background of the sky or the sun. To be contrary, in Roma or Florence, you can find lots of statues almost all of them are with low stages or platform, which reflects the graceful taste in aesthetics."
Afterall, I love this book!
