此版本翻译的水平参差不齐，把springfield步枪竟然音译而不是正统的春田步枪，M1半自动步枪或者M1步枪是正统翻译，而文中竟然翻译成了M1冲锋前。
文中还充斥着多出的空格，不合理的人名翻译，连Dell这种很明显公认的戴尔也翻译成了代尔，此种东西不计其数。
相同主语复用竟然不用代词。怀疑翻译的人是不是真心在作这项工作。。
全书以作者本人的军旅生涯为主线，补充了很多兄弟连原著中由于种种原因没能收录的内容，尤其是作者升入营部后的见闻，并且加入了作者对各种事件的主观看法。作者所补充的营团一级的内容使读者可以对101师，506团，2营，E连这些不同级别的单位（也就是美军所谓的“指挥链”Chain of Command）在战场上的联系和E连的变动有一个更清晰的了解。因此，虽然这本回忆录与安布罗斯在《兄弟连》里引用的不少原始素材相同，但并不会让人感到重复。
